How Much Extra Footage Spider-Man: No Way Home Re-Release Has

The Spider-Man: No Way Home theatrical re-release will feature extra footage, not previously released. The MCU blockbuster starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, Willem Dafoe, Jamie Foxx, Marisa Tomei, and Benedict Cumberbatch pulled in $1.9 billion worldwide, making it the sixth highest-grossing film of all time worldwide, and the third highest-grossing film of all time domestically. Directed by Jon Watts, the final chapter of the Homecoming trilogy notably opened up the multiverse for future MCU films, which will play a big factor in the future of the franchise.

Back in June, Sony announced a Spider-Man: No Way Home extended cut - dubbed The More Fun Stuff Version - would be released in theaters this September. The nature of the subtitle implied audiences would be treated to additional footage that wasn't present in the theatrical cut - even after the home media release included 80 minutes of extra footage. Since the initial confirmation, audiences have been wondering just how much more No Way Home they'll be getting when the film hits theaters once again, and now that's been revealed.

Fandango shared Spider-Man: No Way Home - The More Fun Stuff version has 11 additional minutes of previously unseen footage. Tckets are set to go on sale on Tuesday, August 23rd. Check out the announcement for the re-release below:

What those 11 minutes entail is a mystery for now. With the More Fun Stuff subtitle in mind, it's certainly possible there will be additional scenes of Holland, Maguire, and Garfield together. Sequences of the three Peters interacting were very entertaining and a definite highlight for viewers, so seeing more of them would give the extended version a major selling point. There could also be more scenes featuring No Way Home's villains. Many viewers were disappointed when No Way Home's Blu-ray didn't have deleted scenes, and perhaps Sony was saving them for this theatrical re-release. It will be interesting to see what's included and how it fits into the No Way Home story, as that will determine if purchasing another ticket was worth it.

Spider-Man: No Way Home's re-release comes at a time when the box office is drying up for new releases, making it a smart move on the studio's part. It's also an opportunity for No Way Home to move up on the box office charts, possibly overtaking Avengers: Endgame domestically, which would make it the highest-grossing MCU film in the U.S. If nothing else, Spider-Man: No Way Home's re-release will simply give audiences another opportunity to see the film in theaters, this time with more footage, which is a good enough excuse to revisit.
